Is everybody out to get you?

The perpetual victim

V. K. Madhav Mohan

Annual budget meetings are just around the corner. It’s an exciting but stressful time! As part of his preparation Tanmay is garnering every bit of information to ward off the inevitable pressure from the “management”. As vice-president of a division that generates a Rs 400 crore per annum topline with a reasonable EBIDTA, Tanmay is on the frontlines of the corporate battleground.

This is definitely very true of people who are insecure and have a selfish motive to grow at the cost of others. As mentioned, destressing techniques, a different role would help. Counselling would also help. But, first, the management needs to put a succession plan in place, with or without Tanmay's knowledge. Agreed that targets have to be achieved otherwise the company cannot survive. But, this cannot be at the cost of other employees, since in today's business world, getting qualified and loyal employees is becoming difficult.

Yes you are right, this kind of defensive attitude of Tanmay's limit the growth of the Company & some times even business getting eaten away by competitors. But if they can be guided properly & made them understand their potential, they will scale up their performance.
A Great article, looking forward for the next one !
